The Lantern Festival is the 15th day of the first lunar month. (This year: February 19) Also known as the Shangyuan Festival, the Spring Festival or Yuanxi, it is the first important festival after the Spring Festival. The first full moon night of the year was called "宵(xiao)" by the ancients. Therefore, the first full moon night of the year is called the Lantern Festival.

The traditional customs of the Lantern Festival :

Admire the full moon, set of fireworks, guess lantern riddles,eat Yuanxiao, pull rabbit lights and so on.

In addition, many local Lantern Festivals have also added traditional folk performances such as dragon lights, lion dances, stilts and Taiping drums.

In June 2008, the Lantern Festival was selected for the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
